The lecture focuses on modern particle physics. It will discuss the building blocks of matter and the forces between them. It is mainly based on Modern Particle Physics by Marc Thomson. The book is available at the library.

Exercise sheets will be put online on Tuesday and have to be uploaded by Tuesday the week after. The exercises will not be corrected in detail, but you will get 0 or 1 point depending if you did a decent attempt to solve the problem even if the solution is not 100% correct. You can hand in your exercises in groups of maximal three students. Please note all names on the sheet. We expect every student of the group to be able to present and explain all solutions. 60% of the points on the sheets are required to participate in the exam. Admissions to exams from previous years are not valid this year. The tutorial will start on 20th of October with a repetiton of PEP-IV material. The first sheet will be online 17th of October and has to be handed in by 24th of October.
Exam
The exam will take place on Monday 5.2.2024 14:15-16:15h in INF 308, HS1. You are allowed to bring one double-sided sheet (A4) hand-written with you. You can use your own calculator, if it has no access to internet. Please bring your (students)ID card with you to identify yourself. The lecture hall is open from 14:00h on.
You can have a look at the exam on Tuesday 20.02.24 at 2-4pm in K1-K3 (goldbox) in the ground floor of the Physikalische Institut (INF 227). The points of the exam will be entered latest by Monday morning 19.2. in the Übungsgruppenverwaltungssystem.
Repetition exam will take place on Monday 15.04.24 3:30-5:30pm at INF 308, HS1. You can enter the lecture hall from 3:15pm on. The same rules as for the first exam applies in view of the sheet with formulars etc., the calculator and the (students)ID.
