This lecture will be held online. We will distribute the Zoom link over email to the registered participants and it is also available online in the Uebungssystem. The first lecture will take place on Friday, April 16 at 9:15am.
This will be mostly a blackboard-style lecture accompanied by slides, figures and animations. All notes and slides will be made available.
Covered topics range from basics of binary star evolution such as the classical two-body problem, tides and mass exchange to more complex processes such as stellar mergers, common-envelope evolution and compact-object binaries.
Background knowledge on stellar evolution is helpful.
