Registered participants should also sign up to the Moodle eLearning course (see link). Registration key is "galaxies".

Participants shall research literature on a topic given as a headline and a few lines of description. In a combination of web-search and astro-literature on the Astrophysics Data System a presentation outline will be compiled, then discussed with a supervisor. On basis of this outline a talk/presentation will be prepared and a handout written.

Seminar goals: Learning about an astronomical topic; learning to present a scientific topic

Talk duration: 45min + 5min questions.

Handout length: ~10 pages incl. figures

 

The topics will be given on Moodle before the course starts, and preferences will be asked for before the first class. Topics and dates will be assigned during the first class based on the preferences given.
